The version with a range extender saved the career of the C11 SUV. Leapmotor hopes for the same success with its C01 electric sedan, which has the greatest autonomy on the market for this type of vehicle.
Leapmotor has confirmed for several months its interest in the principle of the range extender, affirming that all its current or future models in its C family would offer this type of engine. The C11 EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) was launched at the start of the year, and it seriously boosted the manufacturer’s sales, now here is the C01.
It features the 1.5 naturally aspirated 68 kW engine under the front hood. An engine which was the one used by LI Auto on the One. The relationship with the C11 does not stop there, since the sedan has the same 200 kW / 272 hp / 360 Nm electric motor at the rear, and above all the same 43.7 kWh battery.

316 km on the battery, more than 1,000 km in total
An imposing battery for a sedan, which allows a range of 316 km in the CLTC cycle, on this battery alone. A record on the market for range extender models. This battery can be compared to the 41.3 kWh of the electric Leapmotor T03, or to that of the large range extender SUVs from LI Auto equipped with 42.8 kWh. With the additional fuel tank, the range will exceed 1,000 km. Leapmotor even goes so far as to talk about Super EREV for its C01.
As with the C11, an access version will receive a smaller battery. The latter will be of LFP type and provided by Gotion. The largest battery is an NMC type supplied by CALB.

The new version is six millimeters higher, and is more easily identified by its ventilation grille at the front. With the presence of the gasoline engine, the 40-liter front trunk will disappear, but the rear trunk will be unchanged with its 496 liters.
It is still unknown whether this version with range extender will be included for the European launch of the C01.
