Zapping Sports Auto Moto F1 Season Calendar 2023
At 4 p.m. sharp the Italian team announced on its social networks the arrival of Italian Franco Morbidelli for the 2024 MotoGP season. He replaces Johann Zarco who leaves the team at the end of the season for Honda. The current Yamaha rider will be alongside Jorge Martin. At the start of August, Morbidelli ramped up the silly season. Yamaha has announced that it is parting ways with its rider. After 3 seasons spent with the Japanese manufacturer, the VR46 academy rider is changing horizons and will begin a new adventure with Ducati. For two years, he has been in great difficulty with his motorcycle and is struggling to perform. He is below his teammate and cannot match him. In 2020, he still obtained the title of vice-champion, but that was not enough for Yamaha to keep it. Gigi Dall’Igna, general manager of Ducati Corse is happy with his new recruit.
“It is a pleasure for us to welcome Franco Morbidelli for next season, within the Pramac Racing team, supported by our factory and riding an official Desmosedici GP. Franco is a driver of great talent and experience, and he has demonstrated more than once that he is strong and fast. It is no coincidence that in 2020 he became MotoGP vice-world champion, winning three Grands Prix. We are convinced that with the Pramac Racing team and our support, he will be able to demonstrate his full potential. We look forward to experiencing this exciting new adventure together.”
The team principal, Paolo Campinoti, is also happy with this choice.
“I am very happy that Franco is joining our family for 2024. I get along very well with him, he has shown on many occasions that he is a champion. I am sure that he will find the right people within our team. conditions to fight again for the positions he deserves.”
