Tesla has reached the production milestone of five million electric vehicles. The firm has impressed with the acceleration of its manufacturing in recent years.
It seems like a long time ago when Tesla was struggling to survive, and when every piece of news about it touched on its financial health. Now, the electric car brand is a major player in the market, and this new figure proves it.
Tesla thus announced on the networks that it had reached an impressive milestone. “This week we produced our 5,000,000th car. Thank you, Tesla owners, for your support! »
It took Tesla 12 years to produce its first million electric cars. So it only took him three and a half more years to add four million units to his total.
But above all, the rate is now around six months per million. A little over a year ago, Tesla had three million cars produced.
Of these five million cars, Tesla manufactured two million in its Chinese Gigafactory in Shanghai. This is the firm’s most productive site, but a closure will slow down its pace. Indeed, the production lines will evolve to support the manufacturing of the new Model 3.
