Zapping Auto Moto Renault Rafale: first contact with the large SUV cut from the Losange
When it was launched last June, the Kia EV9 was only available with two high-end finishes Earth and GT-Line. The prices were therefore particularly steep, with a first price set at €78,000 for the 204 hp propulsion version, while the top of the range with four-wheel drive and 385 hp asked for €86,000.
In mid-September, after only a few weeks on the market, the range was expanded with a new entry-level finish. This reduces the entry fee for the electric SUV. Now, it starts at €73,000 in “EV9” finish, a drop of €5,000.
To do this, Kia has played with the equipment, which nevertheless remains very complete: adaptive LED headlights, heated steering wheel, ventilated and heated front and rear seats (second row), anti-collision system with blind spot detection, heat pump and preconditioning battery, reversing camera, tri-zone automatic air conditioning, triple panoramic screen of 12.3”, 5.1” and 12.3” or even assistance when driving on the motorway.
The all-wheel drive version also more accessible
The “EV9” finish is available with the small 204 hp engine in rear-wheel drive architecture (from €73,000) or in an all-wheel drive version and two 385 hp engines, from €80,000. This is €6,000 less than the same engine previously reserved for the GT-Line finish, which offers 6 or 7 seats at no extra cost.
Thanks to a single 99.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, the SUV reaches up to 541 km of range in the rear-wheel drive version according to the brand. For the moment, the details of the autonomy are not yet known since the approvals are being finalized. They could nevertheless reserve some surprises, in particular for the entry level which is logically a little lighter thanks to the slightly reduced equipment and the “small” 19-inch aerodynamic rims.
