Presented on July 4, the new Fiat 600e is currently only offered with an electric engine, like its cousin Jeep Avenger. But like the latter, it also receives a 48V micro-hybrid gasoline variant, using the new engine from the Stellantis group to which the two brands belong.
Inaugurated by the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 at the end of their career a few weeks ago, this new version of the three-cylinder 1.2 PureTech is transformed into 48V micro-hybridization thanks to a six-speed double-clutch automatic transmission integrating a small electric motor of 21 kW, the equivalent of 28 hp. This allows you to drive for a few meters in electric mode, particularly for maneuvers or starting at lights. Fiat also announces a “zero tailpipe emissions” range of around 1 kilometer. Miller cycle hybridization also reduces consumption with 110 to 114 g/km announced by Fiat, without knowing the details of the consumption figures. For the record, the Jeep Avenger displays 5.6 l/100 km and 126 g/km.
Deflated to 100 hp
At Peugeot and Citroën, the engine currently develops 136 hp, while it displays 100 hp on the Fiat SUV and the Jeep Avenger. This deflated version will join other vehicles from the group over the months, such as the restyled Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa city cars, the Citroën C3 or even the Peugeot 2008. 0 to 100 km/h takes around 11 seconds like the Jeep Avenger equipped with the same block, while the maximum speed should be around 185 km/h like it.
Thanks to this 48V petrol engine, the trunk volume increases significantly compared to the electric 600e with 25 liters more. The hold reaches 385 liters, or 5 liters more than the slightly shorter Jeep Avenger (4.08 m compared to 4.17 m for the Fiat).
The Fiat 600 Hybrid is above all designed for markets less focused on electric vehicles such as Italy or Spain. He therefore begins his career in these countries with a price much lower than the 600th. In France, it should be below €29,000 according to initial information, without knowing the exact price at the moment. The range will consist of an entry-level and a high-end La Prima finish. Official marketing and the first deliveries are planned for the beginning of 2024.
