The Lyon Motor Show takes place from September 28 to October 2. Many new products will be exhibited in French preview.
Traditionally organized in alternation with the Paris Motor Show, the Lyon show reinvented itself a few years ago. The organizers imagined a simple event, open for only five days and deliberately without fuss, with stands without unnecessary decorations.
This formula makes it possible to both offer an entry ticket at a low price (€8, and even €7 in pre-sale on the internet) and to reduce costs for manufacturers. And it works: while many brands no longer come to major international trade shows, here, there is everyone! It must be said that Lyon is an unmissable event, because it is a big sales show. More than 1,500 new vehicles were sold during the last edition.
In Lyon, the star is the product, that is to say the cars. One of the strengths of this event is to combine the traditional indoor exhibition with the possibility of very simple testing. 350 vehicles will thus be available for testing, tests which begin a few meters from the stands. We can quickly form an opinion on a model.
And who says living room, says new products. Proof that brands take the Lyon show seriously, the 2023 edition offers a very nice range of electric cars unveiled in preview in France. With a big French headliner: the Renault Scénic.

Just presented in Munich, this new 100% electric generation will be visible in Lyon, several months before its arrival in dealerships. A way for the brand to make contacts, especially since Peugeot has obviously not planned to come with its new electric 3008. The Lion will still have a French preview: the restyled 208, which will be in dealerships in November. Its technical cousin, the Opel Corsa Electric, will also come to Lyon with its refreshed look.
The other big headliner with the Scénic is the Tesla Model 3. The Highland version, with its new face and redesigned interior, will be in Lyon. Volkswagen will be exhibiting its competitor ID.7. Sedan fans will also discover the new BMW i5.

However, SUVs are in fashion. And several new 100% electric crossovers will be previewed in Lyon. You will be able to discover the Fiat 600e, the Kia EV9, the Smart #3 or even the Subaru Solterra. Mini is expected to come with the all-new Countryman. We are also waiting for its new electric 3-door.
The Show will also be an opportunity to see just launched models in the same place, such as the Abarth 500e, the Honda e:Ny1, the Peugeot e-308, the Toyota bZ4X.
Concepts will also allow visitors to get a glimpse of the future. Citroën will come with the Oli, while Alpine will exhibit the A290, which foreshadows the supercharged electric city car that it will launch in 2024.
Let’s still talk about hybrids, with some great new features there too. Renault will exhibit the Rafale, its new large SUV coupe, Toyota will show the French premiere of the brand new generation of the C-HR, while Volkswagen will introduce the new Passat station wagon to the public.
The show will of course be full of various activities and exhibitions. A space will highlight hydrogen engines. In the corner dedicated to sport, it will be possible to see the third generation of Formula E thanks to Nissan. New forms of mobility will be in the spotlight and it will be possible to learn about eco-driving.
A great program, which is therefore worth the detour, especially as it is a low-cost family outing, it is free for children under 12 years old.
