We know, the speed can sometimes be dangerous, although according to Road Safety, it is the leading cause of fatal accidents on the roads. Of course, this figure must be put into perspective, because if driving fast is a aggravating factor, speed is often linked to other risky behavior. Consumption of drugs or alcohol or even fatigue, all of which are added to an explosive cocktail, thus increasing the risk of accident. This is why the government has implemented more or less severe penalties, depending on the speeding recorded. Find out what you risk if you drive more than 30 km / h over the limit.

What are the sanctions ?

If you are flashed or checked for a speeding between 30 and 39 km / h above the limit, you will then incur a fine of 135 €, as well as a withdrawal of three points. Contrary to rumor, and according to specialized lawyers, you will not be able to have your driving license withdrawn if you pay the fine immediately without contesting. On the other hand, in the event of a dispute, it must then be settled in court, and there, the penalties may be heavier, depending on any recurrence and your case.

You risk getting much more restrictive punishments, detailed below:

  • 3-year suspension of driving license
  • Prohibition from driving certain motor vehicles for a maximum of 3 years
