Many models have bowed out in 2021. Find out which ones in our slideshow.
Every year it’s the same song. Manufacturers present a host of new models, which join the dealerships a little later, and make others disappear at the same time. Because they are starting to get a little too dated, because the segment they are in is losing ground or simply because it is not selling at all or not earning enough. In short, the reasons for the retirement of a model are many and varied. And like every year, 2021 will have been the scene of many disappearances, more or less noticed. This is particularly the case of the Peugeot 108 / Citroën C1 duo, which therefore left the catalog not long ago, when the two manufacturers had already announced that this segment was no longer profitable enough for them. The same goes for the Volkswagen group, with the retirement of Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii.
Sports cars and minivans
On the sports side too, there was a bit of cleaning up. We will indeed note the disappearance of the Lotus Elise, while the firm now wishes to switch to all-electric in the coming years. The last thermal model of the British brand will therefore be the new Emira, carrying a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 of 400 horsepower. We stay with the English, with the farewell of the McLaren 570S, born in 2015 and which then embodied the brand’s entry level. Finally, two single-seaters also bow out, to have the Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan and Sharan, while this segment no longer meets with customer success, replaced in the heart of the latter by SUVs, still in force.
