If a red light comes on on the dashboard, is there a cause for concern? Auto-Moto explains what to do in this situation.
There are three types of sighted present on the dashboards, classified in three colors: blue (or green), orange and red. If the first is a sign of the normal operation of a device, such as lights, the second indicates a slight anomaly, which is nevertheless not urgent and which does not normally prevent circulation in the immediate future. On the other hand, a red light is more alarming, then signaling a serious malfunction of an important component of the vehicle. But then, what should be done in this case? Do you have to stop immediately or is it still possible to drive?
Should we be worried?
There are several reasons for the appearance of Red light : no seat belt, insufficient battery charge, handbrake engaged or the door not properly closed. All these elements obviously do not risk causing a breakage of the vehicle, but will nevertheless prevent you from driving for obvious reasons. On the other hand, there are other more alarming red lights, which indicate a serious problem. This is particularly the case for the one indicating the temperature of the coolant, for the oil sight glass or that of the engine. These indicate a risk of overheating, pressure problem orserious damage which could lead to engine failure.
In this case, we do not think, we stop immediately, taking care to do it safely, without endangering others. Do not try to leave so call a convenience store who will know what to do to help you and fix the problem.
