At mid-life, the very large Bavarian SUV begins to change. The latest, recently immortalized prototypes unveil the styling evolutions of the BMW X7.
BMW X7 restyled (2022) – He could have waited until 2023 to revisit his style, 4 years after its launch. But it is from 2022 that the BMW X7 will, in part, be given a facelift, for the sake ofharmonize its look with the next Bavarian top of the range, embodied by the future BMW 7 / i7 Series and BMW XM.
If he is a controversial builder, in terms of design, it is BMW. After dozing off for a while, in the 2010s, under the post-Chris Bangle era, the premium builder’s pencil stroke awoke with a start at the dawn of 2020, particularly through outrageously prominent grilles, far from delighting a majority clientele. And the stylistic future of the brand promises not to let go of the accelerator, from this point of view, given the astonishing facies that the models at the top of the range will display, during 2022.
Unveiled this fall, this concept will materialize during the year, in series …
Officially, the sculptural BMW XM concept car, unveiled last fall, gave a glimpse of this spectacular style orientation which draws its inspiration in particular from recent Citroën productions, by distinguishing itself by a look at two floors. In doing so, the main optics, housed relatively low, are overlooked by daytime running lights flush with the base of the hood. It is this new identity that the restyled BMW X7 will adopt very soon, as evidenced by the camouflaged prototype surprised by our scoop hunters.
A deeply revamped cockpit
If the German manufacturer has spent as much energy to camouflage the rear as the front of the vehicle, the developments should however be limited to new light signatures at the stern. More spectacular will be the fittings programmed in the passenger compartment, with a dashboard that should swap its classic cap for a large curved digital screen, as inaugurated by the BMW iX in 2021.
Finally hybridized
It is still too early to predict what changes will take place under the hood of the BMW X7. We bet that therechargeable hybridization, surprisingly absent from the current catalog, will finally make its entry on the basis of the block 3.0 l 6-cylinder of the X5 xDrive45e combined with a 111 hp electric motor and a 24 kWh battery, for a combined power of 389 hp and 600 Nm of torque. If this group allows up to 70 km of 100% electric autonomy aboard the little brother, the natural overweight of the X7 will force the latter to mourn a handful of kilometers without emitting CO2.
BMW X7 restyled price
Expected in the second half of 2022, that is to say a few months after the new Series 7 and i7, planned this summer, the BMW X7 will increase its prices on the occasion of this massive restyling. At the entry level, it would not be surprising if it claims more than 100,000 €.
