Zapping Auto Moto Restyled Peugeot 2008 vs Renault Captur: first static confrontation!
The new generation of BMW 5 Series, presented in sedan form last May, is just arriving in dealerships. Multi-energy, it will also be available as a station wagon, probably with an arrival on the market by spring 2024. While waiting for its official presentation, the Series 5 Touring is already available on the internet… thanks to patent images.
As expected, the 5 Series Touring station wagon incorporates the developments of the “G60” sedan. The front part is also identical, right down to the front door pillars. Then the roof extends, very horizontal until the roof drop, which seems rather gentle. This look is reminiscent of that of a competitor revealed recently: the Mercedes E-Class station wagon. Their sizes should also be close, with more than 5 meters long and less than 1.50 m high. The taillights appear almost identical, with a slight drop towards the top of the fenders on each side. The shields obviously have large inserts like the sedan, depending on the finish chosen of course.
Gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, electric, sporty… Touring gives you the choice
Like the sedan, the Series 5 Touring station wagon will have multiple variants. In addition to the usual thermal versions (increasingly micro-hybrid), rechargeable hybridization associated with a six-cylinder gasoline and i5 electric variants up to 601 hp, the Teutonic mover will also have a sporty M5 version. Since the beginning of the Touring saga on the E34 generation 5 Series in 1991, there have only been two generations reworked by the Motorsport department, including the very exclusive “E61” from 2007 to 2010, with its demonic 507 V10 ch. The third M5 Touring in BMW history could opt for the 4.4 plug-in hybrid V8 released by the XM, with 653 hp.
The new BMW 5 Series Touring station wagon should be presented in the coming months, before it goes into production and its first deliveries around spring 2024. Logically, it should be a little more expensive than the sedan, currently priced from 62 €800 in 190 hp gasoline. The i5 is priced from €76,200.

To sum up
After the sedan presented last May and just launched, it will soon be the turn of the Series 5 Touring station wagon to arrive on the market. The new generation, however, is getting a little head start thanks to leaked patent images on the internet.
