NHTSA has released specifications for the Tesla Cybertruck in the United States. We learn that the lightest version of the electric pick-up will weigh more than 3.5 tonnes.
Production of the Cybertruck continues to give Tesla and its employees a hard time. However, the firm is moving forward and was able to communicate its characteristics to the NHTSA. This is the administration responsible for roads and transportation in the United States.
NHTSA has made public ce document, which allows us to know more about the electric pick-up. In particular, we have confirmation of a “dual motor” version, and another with three motors.
The model year for the Cybertruck is 2024, which suggests it will go on sale in the first half of 2025 at the latest. But above all, we learned what the weight of the electric pick-up will be, and the problem that this poses.
Indeed, like the electric Hummer, the Tesla Cybertruck will require a heavy goods vehicle license. And for good reason, in its smallest version, it will weigh 3,629 kilos. In France, you need a C1 license to drive any vehicle weighing more than 3.5 tonnes.
Depending on the options, this version, which is certainly the one with two engines, will weigh up to 4,082 kilos. The most powerful version, and possibly the highest capacity, will weigh between 4,082 and 4,536 kilos on the scale. The Cybertruck market here could therefore be much more that of professionals.
