The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region will launch a new program for electric buses. The intercity lines between Cannes, Grasses and Nice will become ‘zero emissions’ with a new initiative.
At the beginning of October, the PACA Region announced a new climate plan called ‘Let’s keep a Cop ahead’. This program works thanks to joint work between the region and its partner, the manufacturer Keolis.
“To make this ambition a reality, the South Region is deploying a unique strategy in France to improve the transport offer and ensure its decarbonization”declared Renaud Muselier, president of the PACA region. “Developing reliable, clean and efficient public transport will always be at the heart of regional transport policy. »
Regional buses called ZOU! will be fully decarbonized by 2028. The region plans to spend 281 million euros to convert all intercity lines to electric.
“Keolis is proud to support the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Sud Region in its energy transition policy”declared Marie-Ange Debon, chairman of the management board of the Keolis group.
“We work in close consultation with the Region. We share the same vision of public transport service, a factor of social cohesion, carbon-free mobility and economic and tourist dynamism. Together, we are working to build a cleaner and more sustainable future for the region. »
