Boulogne is taking the example of Paris and decided, several months ago, to introduce paid parking for motorcycles in its streets. A measure which will take effect on January 1. Until this date, the city authorities are not sitting idly by.
They have thus launched a first step in the repression of two wheels, this November 1, 2023. Thus, for several days, motorcycles and scooters parked on the sidewalks are likely to be fined, if an officer notices them.
This also precedes another action planned by the municipality. So, from December 1, the city will push the cursor a little further. The vehicles in question may be removed and impounded.
Bikers in the municipal sights
Then, from January 1, 2024, all parking will be charged in the city. Drivers of motorized two-wheelers will therefore have to park in dedicated spaces and pay the bill. This under penalty of fines and having your vehicle removed.
Remember that the city believes that this allows “secure the paths of pedestrians and families.” “It is necessary that sidewalks are no longer authorized for the parking of motorized two-wheelers.” There is no doubt that the financial aspect of this measure will also interest the municipality.
An information campaign based on an information leaflet placed on two motorized wheels was carried out recently. The city is also planning 200 more parking spaces for motorcycles. It remains to be seen whether this will be sufficient, which is far from certain.
