The first stage of the Dakar 2022, contested this Sunday, was the scene of a major rebound in the car category. The defending champion, Stéphane Peterhansel (Audi), was forced to stop at the 153rd kilometer of this timed 334 km section around Ha’il. For his part, Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota) flew over today’s stage taking leadership at each of the six intermediate points. After his victory the day before in the 19 km prologue, the Qatari double hit. It imposes itself ahead of Sébastien Loeb (BRX), relegated to 12 minutes.
In motorcycles also, the winner of the prologue kept his property on this Sunday. This is the Australian Daniel Sanders (KTM), who wins again in front of the Chilean Pablo Quintanilla (Honda), arrived at nearly three minutes. The following drivers concede around ten minutes, starting with the Austrian Matthias Walkner (KTM) and the French Adrien Van Beveren (Yamaha), quatrième.
