Canoo offers us a new version of its future electric model, called American Bulldog. A way to prove that an electric pickup is not just a futuristic concept car?
As Tesla prepares to deliver the first examples of its Cybertruck, with its sometimes controversial style and features, Canoo is emerging from the shadows. Failing to launch production of its vehicle, apart from a few examples intended for NASA, the start-up is multiplying derivatives to convince customers… and investors.
The presentation of the American Bulldog pick-up looks very much like an appeal to those who might be disappointed with the Cybertruck, as it seems to take the opposite view. Compared to the Cybertruck, which aims to evoke a vehicle built from a single block of stainless steel, the Canoo contrasts its rounded cabin and a deliberately very off-road treatment with its black protections and its various clearly visible red accessories. Canoo also appears to be courting the military.

In broad terms, this American Bulldog is a muscular and above all more rustic version of the pick-up already presented. But it’s also a bit more, since it’s essentially now a true double-cab pickup. If it were to enter production, it would be the only one of its kind on the market with its antagonistically opening doors.
Three vans, two pick-ups, two versions of the minivan, Canoo virtually has a very wide range. But the finances continue to be lacking to finalize all this and start production in the factory built in Oklahoma…
