Zapping Auto Moto Peugeot 408 test: increase in g(r) range
In this inflationary period, the question of car prices is crucial for motorists. And this is particularly true for electric models as they are more expensive than thermal models. To convince motorists to take the plunge, there are no thousand ways to proceed. One of them, one of the simplest, consists of putting on sale less powerful models and/or with reduced autonomy. The #1, the very first SUV signed Smart, has decided to follow this trend. The Pro version announced a few weeks ago is entering the range and allows the now Sino-Germanic brand to offer an entry ticket well under €40,000.
Base price below €37,000 as expected
Taking German prices as an example, we were counting on a price starting under €37,000, bingo! At €36,315, the base Smart #1 Pro is only €415 more expensive than a Fiat 600e known for being aggressive in the small, high-mounted model category. At this price, some concessions have to be made. With its battery with a capacity of 49 kWh, the autonomy is lower than the Italian: 310 km on the mixed cycle compared to just over 400 km for the 600e with 54 kWh battery.
The #1 can, on the other hand, boast its significantly greater power: 272 hp compared to 156 hp for the Fiat. Or its higher charging power: 130 kW compared to 100 kW. Or even its more chic pedigree. Something to hesitate about.
