The final version of BMW’s big SUV, prefigured by the XM concept, should not be long in coming. Poorly camouflaged prototypes were encountered on the road.
At the end of November 2021, BMW presented a new concept dedicated to its Motorsport sports branch, with a name evoking a Citroën sedan: the XM Concept. This study took the form of an SUV with a tortured look, with a hybrid engine of 750 hp. The concept, still a little extravagant with sometimes unsightly lines or caricatural proportions, should slightly review its copy for the production version, scheduled for the end of 2022. Precisely, less camouflaged prototypes of the future model are circulating, allowing us to get a first idea …
As expected, the future production BMW XM should slightly tone down on the styling side with slightly less abrupt lines for glazing or more traditional optics, but still on two floors. Ditto inside, where the dashboard should be quite close to the recent iDrive system of the BMW iX, the other technological flagship of the brand with its electric drive in the form of a large SUV. On the other hand, the SUV should keep some cleavage design elements like the huge grille, the very muscular hips or the two vertical double tailpipes.
See you at the end of 2022
The future BMW XM will be exclusively dedicated to the Motorsport range of the Bavarian brand, like the late BMW M1. It will also be theBMW’s most powerful production model with 750 hp, offered thanks to a plug-in hybrid engine equipped with a gasoline V8 and an electric unit of unknown power for the moment. We will therefore have to wait until the end of the year to find out more about the technical sheet and additional information. As for the price, it should well exceed 100,000 €, the equivalent of a basic BMW X7.
