In 2035, the sale of new thermal cars will be banned in the European Union. Information that remains poorly communicated and unknown to many French people, in particular. Nearly one in two French people are unaware of this decision.
The fact remains that the latter is not ignored elsewhere in the world, in particular among the leaders of certain states in the USA. This is evidenced by New Jersey, which has just announced a similar ban in its area, setting the same date of 2035.
Enough to bring to 15 the number of American states banning the marketing of these vehicles by 2035. California had notably launched the movement, from the year 2022. Massachusetts, the State of New York and even the Colorado followed suit.
An additional constraint
This represents an additional requirement for each of these zones, compared to what the country’s government imposes. In fact, federal regulations are more flexible on this subject and allow the continued sale of thermal vehicles after 2035.
The standards in question had in fact been relaxed during the presidency of Donald Trump. Enough to give more latitude to States… except that some decide to go in the opposite direction.
It remains to be seen whether this will be applicable. Indeed, doubts are growing as to the possibility of selling electric cars. This is due to their lack of popularity, their price or even the resource requirements which are particularly high.

To sum up
New Jersey will ban the sale of thermal vehicles by 2035. Enough to increase the number of states applying a similar measure to 15. However, doubts remain as to the possibility of applying such a measure.
