Still in the process of being launched in several European countries, the Chinese manufacturer Greatwall is completely reviewing its naming strategy. Which greatly clarifies its offer.
The strategy of multiplying brands by Chinese manufacturers works in China, but not necessarily in Europe. Greatwall has therefore chosen to review its naming plan for its Ora and Wey brands. As is already the case in many countries around the world, it is now the GWM brand (for GreatWall Motors) which will be highlighted. Enough to make the range more easily understandable.
The Ora or Wey appellations will become simple families of products under this umbrella. The Funky Cat and Lighting Cat electric models abandon any connection with felines and become simply GWM Ora 03 and GWM Ora 07.
At Wey, the models were called Coffee 01 and Coffee 02 in Europe, compared to the Chinese names of Mocha and Latte… The link with the world of coffee being already abandoned in China, it is also in Europe and we will thus have in dealerships the GWM Wey 03 and GWM Wey 05.
The first models bearing these new names will arrive in January 2024 in countries where GWM is already established, including Great Britain and Germany. However, the Chinese manufacturer has not yet specified the date of its arrival in France.
