Zapping Auto Moto Renault Rafale: first contact with the large SUV cut from the Losange
Will SUV ads one day be banned in France? Still, Marine Tondelier, national secretary of EELV (ecologists) would like it. The reason ? According to her, we are tired of buying products that are bad for the climate and do not make us happy.
Advertising would therefore be responsible for forcing us to buy things that we do not really want. She would be responsible for our misfortune and we would suffer it. And to propose banning ads, particularly for SUVs. The elected official from Hauts-de-France detailed her point of view, on LCI :
“Today, we have a problem linked to what we make people want to buy (…) I am part of the anti-advertising group, people who are fed up of seeing advertisements on TV which make us want to consume things that don’t make us happier, that weaken us financially and that are climate-killing.”
“Ads for SUVs are 3 hours 50 minutes a day, of clip (…) As there was the Evin law on tobacco, I don’t understand why we wouldn’t be able to make a law to ban advertising on it. Not banning consumption but stopping making people want to buy it.”
We’re tired of seeing ads on TV that encourage us to break the bank to buy products that are bad for the climate and don’t make us any happier.

An ad already censored in the United Kingdom
This statement is reminiscent of an affair that occurred in recent days among our neighbors across the Channel. An advertisement for Toyota was, in fact, censored. The fault of a clip showing judged behavior “irresponsible” for the environment.
The video showed a horde of Toyota Hilux in scenes taken in mountains, off-road, and even across rivers. This is no longer due to an association, Adfree Cities (literally “Cities without advertising”).
She filed a complaint with the ASA (English advertising police). And the latter to ask Toyota to take measures by transforming its advertising. An example that could cross the Channel and multiply in the future?

To sum up
Marine Tondelier, national secretary of EELV (ecologists) advocates a ban on advertising for SUVs, deemed climaticidal, on the model of the Evin law. She accuses these clips broadcast on TV of all evils, but above all of making citizens unhappy.
