Zapping Auto Moto Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: contact with the 650 hp electric battery!
Since the reveal of the showcar in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck has been the subject of countless rumors and other fantasies, more or less legitimate, given its very particular build and plastic. But on this side of the Atlantic, there was particular fear of its weight measurement knowing that any vehicle with a GVWR of between 3.5 t and 7.5 t requires obtaining a category C1 driving license. For example, the recent electric Hummer, 5.50 m long, weighs 4.41 t on the scale and is therefore rejected by our market. And as the Tesla Cybertruck had long been announced to be even bigger, it was almost certain that it would deprive itself of a significant part of its European customer base.
Yes, but Tesla has apparently done things well, despite a total length of 5.68 m, or 18 cm more than its competitor General Motors. Tirelessly chasing away unnecessary masses, Californian engineers have achieved the feat of establishing its weight at just 3 t for the entry level, and 3.1 t for the most wanton variant. This is the reason why the official reveal of the Cybertruck coincided with its appearance on all configurators in Europe, even in France. However, Tesla giving priority to its national market, for the moment, it is not yet possible to place an order for the pick-up in our latitudes.
Able to humiliate a Porsche 911
An additional wait during which its future buyers will have the opportunity to dissect its technical sheet. First of all, know that as a good self-respecting pick-up, its bed has around 3,400 liters and its towing capacity reaches 5 tonnes. Nothing surprising in this ultimately given its different cavalries. Count on 600 hp for the entry ticket called All Whell Drive (all-wheel drive) capable of going from 0 to 96 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in 4.1 s thanks to two engines, when the Cyberbeast version, strong of an additional engine, peaks at 845 hp to complete the same exercise in 2.6 s. To illustrate its performance, the behemoth did not hesitate to oppose a Porsche 911 on a drag strip, the video of which is already creating a buzz on social networks with its provocative nature. Indeed, Tesla’s pickup was not content to simply humiliate the iconic German sports car. He did it by towing a trailer on which rested… another Porsche 911. Or when the genius of communication takes on its full meaning.
Technological leap forward
For the rest, the Cybertruck finally inaugurates an 800 V architecture, a first for Tesla which is catching up with the Porsche Taycan or even certain models from the Hyundai/Kia group. The key is lightning charging times thanks to a power of 250 kW which will see it recover 220 km of autonomy in 15 minutes. As usual, Tesla does not communicate the battery capacity of its new model to focus on the autonomy measurements which amount to 550 km (EPA cycle) for the All Wheel Drive version and 515 km for the Cyberbeast . At best, according to the European WLTP cycle, the Cybertruck should approach 600 km.
Steering… without column
Long distances which will probably be carried out in great comfort thanks to its air suspension which promises to maintain its ground clearance at 43 cm, whatever the load level of the vehicle or the number of passengers who will take place on board ( up to 5). These passengers will benefit from a huge 18.5” touch screen at the front, while the rear seats will offer a 9.4” diagonal screen. On the driver’s side, no Yoke-type steering wheel, but “steer-by-wire” steering without a mechanical column which will probably give it a reduced steering angle, what’s more by the presence of four steering wheels.
Prix Tesla Cybertruck
Convinced you want to order the Cybertruck? Attention ! One detail might raise your eyebrows: its width. In fact, with the mirrors deployed, the machine extends over 2.41 m. A significant rating when it comes to parking the beast. In terms of prices, the All Wheel Drive variant costs $79,990 (around €73,400) when you have to pay $99,990 (around €91,800) to take advantage of the Cyberbeast model while waiting for the introduction of a more affordable model, during 2025 , promised at $60,990 with only two-wheel drive and a lower capacity battery that will allow it to travel around 400 km.
To sum up
It will have kept the Tesla boys waiting for four years, but the wait is probably up to their expectations as the characteristics of Elon Musk’s pick-up are impressive. One of them particularly reassures the community of French fans.
