Zapping Auto Moto Fiat Topolino Dolcevita: on board the ultra trendy micro-city car
Parisians now know what to expect if they say “Yes” to the town hall’s plan to impose a surcharge on SUV parking in Paris. David Belliard, deputy of Anne Hidalgo, at the origin of this vote which will take place on February 4, has just detailed what the owners of these vehicles will be exposed to.
It will all come down to a drastic increase in parking rates. The latter will in fact be tripled, for SUVs, the “big cars” that the Parisian municipal team loathes. This will therefore increase to 18 euros for the central districts, 12 euros for the others.
Who will be affected by this price increase?
The limit for the thresholds has also been set. It will be 1.6 tonnes for thermal and hybrid vehicles. This will increase to two tonnes, for electric vehicles.
Please note: in the event of a “Yes” victory, some people will not be affected. Parisian residents will escape this, as will professionals and the disabled with their supporting documents. Free parking will also be maintained at night and on Sundays.
35 million for the city
This would concern nearly 10% of the vehicle fleet, according to David Belliard. Or around 7,000 vehicles, out of the 70,000 parking tickets generated each day. Suffice it to say, a very low margin for cars…
Still, this would mean a jackpot for Paris town hall. In fact, it could gain additional revenue of 35 million euros. While Parisian debt is regularly controversial, Anne Hidalgo can at least thank motorists for helping her resolve this problem.

To sum up
The punishment regarding the price of SUV parking in Paris is becoming clearer. If Parisians answer “Yes” to the plan to penalize these vehicles on February 4, the parking price will be tripled for thermal and hybrid vehicles weighing more than 1.6 tonnes and electric vehicles weighing more than two tonnes.
