The first images of the next generation of the Dacia Duster are already leaking on the net, while its launch is scheduled for 2024.
Remember that was a few months ago, earlier this year. Renault, then in a bad patch following the Carlos Ghosn affair, was starting to recover, thanks to the arrival of his new boss, Luca de Meo, formerly at the head of Seat. With him, many changes have been implemented within the French group, with the arrival among others of the former Peugeot design director, Gilles Vidal. But that’s obviously not all, because the new head of the French firm also wanted to thoroughly review the organization and the very identity of the three brands, namely Renault, Alpine and Dacia. The first will remain generalist oriented and will convert more and more to electric, an engine that will also be adopted by the second, which will be completely transformed in the years to come. Finally, at Dacia, the low-cost positioning will be retained, but the range will be enriched with new, unpublished models.
Among them, the future Dacia Bigster, a large seven-seater SUV presented in the form of a concept car a few months earlier. And the least we can say is that it changes radically compared to what we currently know, adopting a very futuristic and rather attractive style, while inaugurating a brand new logo, as for Renault. . But since its revelation, radio silence, while the firm has not yet given any information on the technical specifics of this family SUV. But now our Spanish colleagues fromAutofacil seem to have got their hands on something interesting: the images from the patent filing. But contrary to what one might think, and to many rumors, these are not the photos of the future Bigster, despite the resemblance, but of the next generation of the Duster. But then, why such similarities? Quite simply because the future family SUV, for the moment only presented in concept form will in reality be the elongated version of the star of the range.
Almost exact copy
However, many elements were taken from the style study. The front face of course, but also the general silhouette, which remains generally retained, although slightly shortened. The style is therefore much more assertive than the other models in the current range, which should nevertheless adopt similar lines in the coming years, in order to create a certain consistency within the catalog. For now, the interior is still unknown, but here too we should expect a real leap forward compared to what we currently know, even if the brand has already made good progress over the years. Resting on the plateforme CMF-B, this future Dacia Duster should be powered by gasoline and hybrid units. No diesel or electric motor is planned in the catalog, while the technical characteristics of the SUV remain unknown for the moment.
Anyway, the revelation of this new generation of the Dacia Duster is not planned for immediately, while its entry into marketing should take place in the course of the year 2024. It should then be followed by the Bigster, which will be none other than its seven-seater version.
