A collective action has been launched against Renault, due to problems with its 1.2 TCe. Find out if your vehicle is affected.
The year is off to a bad start for Renault. Indeed, the constructor with the diamond is currently under the blow of a action collective in court, led by the lawyer Mr Christophe Lèguevaques. A case which is reminiscent of the Dieselgate of 2015, even if this time, no question of pollution and software of rigging of emissions, but rather of big problems of reliability. But if the former management is talking about her today, it has been more than ten years since many owners have complained of mechanical problems on their Renault vehicles but also Dacia, Mercedes and Nissan. In question, the block 1,2 litre TCe, installed on more than 400,000 vehicles in France alone, between 2012 and 2016.
Serious mechanical problems
Very widely distributed, this engine is used in particular on the Renault Clio 4 and Mégane 3 as well as the Nissan Juke and Qashqai 2 as well as the Mercedes Citan. Accused of numerous failures, this 1.2-liter unit would in particular tend to overconsume oil followed by a loss of power, which would then lead to engine failure. A problem which would then generally occur from 50,000 kilometers. Many customers have already reported the problem to the manufacturer, who, according to the lawyer, did not take care of the repairs, which Renault denies. It will therefore be up to justice to decide, in order to shed light on this matter. In the meantime, customers can request a pick-up from Renault, which can then correct the problem.
