In partnership with the RTR tuner, Ford has developed the F150 Lightning Switchgar. A prototype which could well announce the imminent arrival of an electric Raptor.
In the Ford F-150 family, the two stars of the moment are called Raptor and Lightning. Two worlds that seem incompatible today. Not for long ? Whether by its look ready for Baja type races or by its technical developments which go in the same direction, the F-150 Switchgear clearly points towards the world of the Raptor. The staging of the official communication confirms this.
Except that this prototype does not have a V6 or a V8 under its hood. The light signature testifies to its origins: it is indeed an F-150 Lightning which serves as a basis. The mechanical part has not been modified: two motors, 580 hp, 131 kWh battery. RTR’s work focused on the style and the suspensions. The preparer founded by Vaughn Gittin Jr has even planned two configurations: road and off-road.

But like the Mach-E Rally, could this F-150 move from prototype stage to production? The thing does not seem entirely excluded…
