In order to better meet the expectations of European buyers, Fisker’s electric pickup will change its name. The Fisker Alaska is renamed Fisker Kayak.
Alaska becomes Kayak for Europe
After the marketing of the Fisker Ocean in 2023, the American brand intends to put on the market the Fisker Alaska, a 100% electric pick-up. It will be available on the European market but will not have the same name. The brand has just confirmed to our colleagues thatAutocar that Alaska would be renamed Kayak in Europe. A choice officially made for “ better meet the expectations of Europeans ».
The manufacturer does not say it, but this name change initiative may have been motivated by another reason. Indeed, Renault offered the Alaskan in Europe, already a pick-up. It is likely that the French brand contacted Fisker to ask it to rename its model. There will therefore be no confusion between the two vehicles on the Old Continent.
How is Fisker doing six months after delivery of the first Ocean?
Kayak prices for Europe and export volumes have not yet been confirmed. We do know, however, that Fisker plans to sell its electric pickup for around $45,000 on the American market. Which corresponds to 41,000 euros. Even if this is not the exact price at which the Kayak will be sold, it allows us to have a rough idea of its price.
The Fisker Kayak will be alone on the European market
The Kayak therefore promises to be significantly less expensive than its American competitors. Future buyers will have the choice between two different batteries: one of 75 kWh and another, much larger, of 113 kWh. Henrik Fisker, the founder of the brand, promises a range of 370 km with the smaller of the two and 550 km for the Hyper Range, the more substantial.
In its best configuration, the Fisker Kayak should be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. This electric pick-up was designed to be “ the lightest in the world “. In Europe, Kayaking won’t have much competition anyway. Very few models are positioned in this segment. It is even possible that the Tesla Cybertruck will never arrive on the Old Continent for security reasons.
Fisker begins deliveries of its entry-level model, the Ocean Sport
In the United States, it should be opposite the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T or even Tesla Cybertruck. Henrik Fisker promises a vehicle “ both efficient and easy to use, but also with excellent handling and which offers pleasure to our customers ».
