For a few days, the Polestar 4 has been officially available in Europe and Australia. The first deliveries are expected for August 2024. On the other hand, still no news of a deployment in France.
Orders are open for the Polestar 4
After launching at the end of 2023 in China, the Polestar 4 is finally arriving in Europe and Australia. Two new key markets for the Swedish manufacturer. However, France is still not part of Polestar’s plans. In fact, there isn’t even a website dedicated to the French market. However, the brand is well deployed in most of our European neighbors: in Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Iceland and even Denmark.
We have attempted to ask Polestar for an explanation and will update this article as soon as we have a response. While waiting to find out more, let’s come back to the Polestar 4. This vehicle is the brand’s second 100% electric SUV after the Polestar 3. A car presented as a ” new breed of SUV coupe ”, by Polestar. The 4 was designed to be as efficient as possible with a low nose, retractable door handles and frameless windows.
Renault will make Polestars
The aerodynamics have been particularly well worked on this model. The electric SUV also claims a good range of 610 km (in the WLTP cycle) for consumption of around 18 kWh/100 km. The model is positioned between the Polestar 2 and the Polestar 3 in terms of size and price. In Europe, the 4 is available from 62,900 euros.
The model that will change everything?
For Thomas Ingenlath, the CEO of the brand, “ the arrival of the Polestar 4 in all our markets in 2024 is the key to our success “. The company was forced to announce layoffs a few days ago. 15% of employees were dismissed. Polestar seeks to reduce its expenses and highlights its “ low market share » to justify this decision. The manufacturer is counting a lot on the 4 to give itself some air.
The Polestar 4 will also be the brand’s fastest production car. With an output of up to 544 hp (400 kW), the electric SUV can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Several versions are offered for sale: dual-engine or single-engine. In any case, the 4 has a 100 kWh battery. It is capable of handling up to 200 kW in direct current and 22 kW in alternating current.
Like more and more electric vehicles, the 4 is also equipped with bi-directional charging functionality. Polestar is banking heavily on this launch. With this new SUV, the brand hopes to change dimension and (finally) increase its volumes significantly to enter the big leagues.
