Zapping Auto Moto Fiat Topolino Dolcevita: on board the ultra trendy micro-city car
This Sunday, Parisians were called to the polls. It was not a question of electing a new local representative but of voting for or against tripling the price of parking for SUVs in the city. And despite the call, the Parisians clearly had swimming.
In fact, 1.3 million citizens were called to vote. However, only… 78,121 of those registered on the electoral lists traveled, according to Yves Charpenel, president of the Voting Control Commission.
This represents an extremely low participation, of only 5.68%. 94.32% of voters did not come. And among the participants, only 54.55% of them voted against SUVs. This represents a little more than 42,000 voters for this measure.
Even fewer participants than for scooters
Overall, the vote on SUVs captivated even fewer voters than that on self-service scooters. Sunday April 2, 2023, 90% of Parisians spoke out against the proliferation of these devices in the capital. A vote which mobilized… 7.46% of those registered on the electoral lists.
Nothing to bother the representatives of the city of Paris. The group of Ecologists thus welcomes a preservation “quality of life” of Parisians, while evoking a problem of“automotive obesity which damages public space”. On the side of the Respire association, opposed to these vehicles, we also emphasize “a victory for the quality of life of Parisians”.
Conversely, the opposition group Changer Paris denounces “demagogic communications operation”. Senator (LR) Agnès Evren speaks of “a shame for Paris”. At the same time, 40 Million Motorists spoke harshly to David Belliard, Anne Hidalgo’s deputy, accusing him of“annoying motorists on a daily basis”.
