Going through the restyling box, the Porsche Taycan takes the opportunity to receive an update which takes the autonomy much further.
The Porsche Taycan is, like a few other premium sedans, at the top of the food chain when it comes to electric technology. To date, it is one of the few to allow travel as quickly as possible. But an update could go even further!
This is what the first tests carried out on open roads by Edmunds revealed. While the new vintage of the Taycan has not yet been officially revealed, the American specialists were able to take the wheel of the sedan and obtain a record range of 587 km on a single charge, on a motorway route without exceeding 120 km /h (the legal limit).
Presentation – Porsche Macan electric 2024: the new benchmark?
In detail, it was a rear-wheel drive Taycan that was able to achieve this value. But the performance is no less interesting with the other protagonists, all equipped with the Performance Plus battery: the Taycan 4 and the Turbo reached 552 and 555 km respectively, while the Cross Turismo 4 reached 512 km.
A bigger battery for the Porsche Taycan
But much more than the autonomy values, it is the fast charging performance of the new Porsche Taycan which impressed. Plugged into an Electrify America fast charging station, the sports sedan reached a peak of more than 330 kW. This would allow him to run the 10-80% in 18 minutes.
However, while the performance is identical at first glance, it should be noted that the Performance Plus battery would be of much greater capacity. Based on their own data, Edmund specialists anticipate a net capacity of 98 kWh. Thus, the new Porsche Taycan would display an average charging power (10-80%) of more than 250 kW, compared to 214 kW if we use our own data!
The presentation of this new vintage will take place in a few days.
