As Range Rover prepares its first electric model, the brand has launched its reservation book, which is no longer empty.
It’s been quite a while since Range Rover announced its electric ambitions. While its first model of its kind is slowly being prepared out of sight, the brand has opened its reservation book, or at least its waiting list. A nuance reinforcing the exclusive character of this next SUV. The strategy is obviously working well.
And to better show that there is demand, the English firm does not hesitate to communicate figures. Thus, the waiting list for the Range Rover EV has already accumulated more than 16,000 registrations. A number that is certainly low in absolute terms, but fairly representative for the British firm, which occupies a luxury model.
An avalanche of big numbers for the Range Rover EV
If we are indeed struggling to find any real interest in this value which further reassures those who communicate it, let us recall the figures which make the Range Rover EV what it will be. Because in terms of technical specifications, the first electric SUV will aim for the elite. Based on the MLA platform, it will feature a battery of nearly 100 kWh with an 800 V electrical architecture.
This will therefore allow it to display very high fast charging power. Still on the performance side, it promises times worthy of the V8 version. Finally, a Range Rover must also be comfortable on all terrains, it will be capable of sinking into fords up to 850 mm deep. The price, if not yet known, is expected to reach prohibitive heights.
