The Tesla Cybertruck stayed close to the concept. But certain stylistic choices adapt very poorly to the reality of the road.
The Tesla Cybertruck has finally been officially launched. Despite the wait, the electric pick-up remained perfectly faithful to the first prototype presented in 2019. A laudable choice, but which is not without limits: because beyond the mirrors and wiper blades which lack harmony, it is the hubcaps which would pose a real problem.
According to the Youtube channel of T Sportline, a specialist in Tesla spare parts, the prominent claws of the hubcaps prematurely wear the sidewalls of the pick-up’s specific tires. After just a few thousand kilometers, the hubcaps have eaten away almost 120 mm of rubber. Which, in addition to the financial aspects caused by early replacements, is not without danger for the occupants of the vehicle.
Tesla will modify the hubcaps of the Cybertruck
According to specialized forums, Tesla has stopped delivering Cybertrucks with these hubcaps. The brand has also indicated that it will deliver new less aggressive hubcaps for tires from March. For now, Tesla has not specified what changes will be made.
Is the Tesla Cybertruck a dangerous vehicle?
Remember that this is not the first time that the Cybertruck hubcaps have been in the news. From the first deliveries, the spaces between the covers and the tires allowed air to pass through and unhooked these elements from the wheel. This highlights the limits of stylistic exercises of concepts in the face of reality.
