Zapping Two Wheels Auto Moto Peugeot scooter XP400 test: the first maxi scooter from the lion brand!
This is a new ban project which risks causing a strong reaction. That of banning the circulation of thermal two-wheelers at night in Paris. The fault is the noise, considered too harmful by some, that these machines would produce. It would be a question of preventing them from circulating between 10 p.m. each evening and 7 a.m. the next day.
The Independents and Progressives group wishes to carry out an experiment on this subject. Pierre-Yves Bournazel, Paris advisor, co-president of the political group in question, spoke on this subject, for BFMTV :
“Noise is a major scourge. More than 80% of Parisians complain about noise every day. And it’s true that a thermal scooter can wake up several thousand Parisians at night alone. “
Towards a financial incentive?
And the politician promised financial aid. The aim is to encourage a change in mode of transport. He hopes that users of thermal two-wheelers will switch to electric vehicles, or even bicycles, with this measure:
“We do not want to put them aside or point the finger at them. Those who use thermal motorized two-wheelers, we tell them “We will help you financially to buy an electric two-wheeler, or a bicycle or a bicycle -cargo”.”
“Useless”, respond the bikers
On the side of bikers, the idea is naturally criticized. The latter consider this project useless, since they are far from being the only ones making noise. Jean-Marc Belotti, coordinator of the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) of Paris and the inner suburbs, details this:
“We make noise like other users. But today, once again, I can tell you that the noise is generated by heavy vehicles passing over the cobblestones, by horns and sirens.”
In the meantime, this astonishing project will be debated at the next Paris Council, starting today. A few hours after the vote to triple the parking price for cars deemed too heavy or the implementation of paid parking, this is another ban which will not fail to be contested in Paris.
We can also wonder what the point of the noise emissions standards that all vehicles sold in the territory are for, if it is so that circulation is subsequently prohibited. As for offenders, what about police checks or the installation of sound radars, instead of penalizing everyone?

To sum up
Bikers traveling with thermal motorized two-wheelers in Paris could face a new, most untenable ban. This would involve very severely limiting their right to movement. A project being debated at the Paris Council, right now.
