The Volkswagen Passat leaves the catalog

The Volkswagen Passat leaves the catalog

After nearly 50 years of production, the Volkswagen Passat says goodbye and leaves the range. However, the station wagon version is still available.

This is a page that is turned at Volkswagen. Like most manufacturers, the Wolfsburg firm is cleaning up its range, removing the least sold models and therefore the least profitable. A strategy that can be found everywhere, at a time when brands must make big savings, in order to have enough funds to invest in the electrification of their range. It is therefore undoubtedly for this reason that the German manufacturer has decided to part with one of its flagship models, the Passat. Present in the catalog since 1973, the top-of-the-range rival sedan in particular of the Renault Talisman has therefore stopped its production at Christmas, as indicated by our colleagues fromCoach.

A replacement soon

It is true that by going to take a look on the site, we realize that the sedan is now only offered in stock, and that it is therefore no longer possible to configure it. However, the wagon version remains for its part still present, and no information has been revealed on a possible withdrawal from the catalog in the coming months. But if the Volkswagen Passat is indeed leaving the range, it is above all to make way for a brand new model. Known as the Aero B, it will be a 100% electric sedan, already seen by spy photographers.

Based on MQB platform, it will be inspired by the Space Vizzion concept unveiled in 2019 at the Los Angeles show. The information is expected to be revealed in the coming months.
