Alpine struck a double blow this Wednesday, February 7, at its Enstone site (England). The presentation of the new F1called A524, was accompanied by that of its counterpart on the WEC side, the world endurance championship, namely the A424.
This prototype materializes the return of the Dieppe firm to the top of the endurance pyramid and at the same time, its baptism of fire in Hypercar. Since its launch in 2021, the new premier category of the WEC has helped to attract nearly ten manufacturers.
Two examples entered in the WEC in 2024
While Alpine’s own blue has been reduced to a trickle on the F1 single-seater, it occupies a preponderant part of the livery of the A424, running from bow to stern, credited with A-shaped taillights. The famous A arrow is also highlighted in white on a black background, on the engine cover in the shape of a shark fin.
On the occasion of its return to the premier category, Alpine will line up two copies of the A424 over the entire WEC season, with Ferdinand Habsburg, Paul-Loup Chatin and Charles Milesi in the No. 35, Mick Schumacher, Nicolas Lapierre and Matthieu Vaxiviere in the No. 36. The highlight of the season will obviously take place in mid-June, during the 92nd edition of the 24 hours of Le Mansfacing strong competition, with Ferrari, title holder, but also Toyota, Cadillac, Peugeot, Porsche, BMW and Lamborghini.
