Renault’s SUV family will expand further with the Symbioz. Unveiled in the spring, it will be inserted between the Captur and the Austral. It will have a simple hybrid engine.
SUV, if you want some, here it is. Renault is increasing its number of adventurers, with the Captur, Arkana, Austral and Espace already in dealerships. These will be joined this year by the Scénic transformed into an electric SUV and the Rafale, a coupe variant of the Austral.
And as that was not enough, the Losange will add the Symbioz. Renault formalizes this project this February 8 with teasers. It also gives some technical information, starting with the length. The Symbioz stretches over 4.41 meters, only 10 cm less than the Austral. It exceeds the Captur by 18 cm.
In fact, behind this new name hides an extended version of the Captur. The Symbioz will therefore be aimed at those who find that the Captur is a little tight in terms of habitability and loading volume. On the other hand, Renault does not announce the presence of a third row of seats.
The profile teaser shows the kinship with the Captur, at least at the front. Although you will notice that the face is specific, but it will be shared with the facelifted version of the Captur. The entire rear part is new, with shapes in the vein of those of the electric Scénic. From the latter, we will find the large panoramic Solarbay glass roof, which becomes opaque without a awning.
The Symbioz will be offered in a simple hybrid version. It will use the 145 hp E-Tech block. This new model will be unveiled in the spring.
