The 40 million motorists association calls for emergency measures from the executive in the face of the new surge in gasoline prices.
On the totem poles, prices start to rise again. After an autumn marked by soaring diesel and unleaded prices, winter does not offer a respite to motorists. According to site figures Carbu.com, the price of a liter of diesel has thus increased by 7.5 cents in one month.
The 40 million motorists association, led by Pierre Chasseray, sent an open letter to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron. She calls for “emergency measures” to relieve the purchasing power of road users.

“On October 21, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the automatic payment of an ‘inflation allowance’ in the amount of 100 euros to all French people earning less than 2,000 euros per month. On the fuel side, the liter of diesel then cost on average 1.57 euros at the pump, and that of the liter of SP 95 1.67 euros. Today, Wednesday January 12, 2022, most French people received ‘inflation compensation’ on their last pay slip in 2021 but, above all, they always pay more for their fuel. Thus, the government intervention will have only extinguished the media fire fueled by the anger of road users unarmed by the soaring prices, without providing them with a real solution to face this situation ”

Among the measures recommended by the association are ” a decrease in TICPE to the level of the minimums imposed by the European Union “Or” a reduction in VAT to 5.5%, considering road fuels as essential products “.
? “The bonus of 100 € has not changed anything, the French continue to be held up at the pump. Only Macron can act and I ask him to lower taxes”.
