The well-established communication plan of the future Renault Austral continues to unfold its soap opera, a few months before its final revelation.
Renault Austral: Kadjar’s replacement unveils its silhouette – Renault’s new compact SUV has gone through a long period of teasing since last fall. After unveiling its new name, then its camouflaged prototype, here is the Renault Austral plays with lights and shadows to reveal its profile, as well as some styling details.
“Elegant and technological” is how Gilles Vidal, Design Director of the Renault brand, describes New Renault Austral. As a spectator insofar as his late arrival at this post did not allow him to participate in the genesis of the vehicle. We owe his style more to Laurens van den Acker which now reigns over the design of all the brands of the Renault group.
Turning your back on the Kadjar era
To make people forget the failure of the Renault Kadjar, the designers of the Losange claim to have based themselves on the fundamentals that make the desirability of an SUV in terms of proportions, ratio, overhang, wheel dimensions, emphasizing the shoulders and giving it muscle. As a result, the Renault Austral will be sharper, more athletic and more modern than its predecessor.
“Renault Austral combines strong stylistic elements that give it a dynamic and elegant design. Its quality is visible at first glance. We have reduced the bodywork clearances, tweaked the outcrops so that it develops an immediate qualitative feeling. ” dixit Gilles Vidal, Design Director of the Renault brand.
The technological aspect is also participating in the renaissance of Renault design in this segment. In back, two imposing C-shaped lights join the logo. The treatment is identical to the front of the vehicle with very thin headlights and grille. The optics benefit from a micro-optic technology consists of a plexiglass plate on which are engraved lines, patterns, on the surface or in the heart of the material. When the edge of the plexiglass is illuminated with LEDs, all the engraved areas light up for a striking visual effect.
See you in the spring
We will have to wait until next spring to discover the final lines of the Renault Austral. Until then, let’s bet that Renault will continue to communicate about its new baby, in small steps, to increase the pressure. I have to say that the stakes are very high to hope to shake the Peugeot 3008, his sworn enemy, designed by a certain… Gilles Vidal.
