While the curfew has just been pushed back to 9 p.m., do traffic jams on the road serve as a waiver and are they an excuse? Auto-Moto takes stock.
That’s it, the sunny days are back and the sanitary restrictions are slowly starting to ease, while it is again possible to eat on the terrace, go to the cinema, the theater or even the shopping center and the restaurant. Museum. And while summer is fast approaching, the desire for escape and travel is growing stronger. But the question of the curfew still arises, while it has been pushed back to 9 p.m. and will be postponed to 11 p.m. on June 9. More freedom to move, of course, and to go further from home without having to hit the road too early.
But besides, is it possible to arrive after 9 pm at home or at your vacation spot in the event of traffic jams on the road? The answer is unfortunately no, as Camille Chaize recalled a few days ago. The spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior had indeed clarified a few months ago at the microphone of Europe 1, when the curfew was still at 6 p.m., that there would be no particular tolerance for holidaymakers , who will then have to make their arrangements, leaving much earlier and reducing the breaks on their journey. She recalls in fact that “ everyone is now familiar with the devices. The important thing is to arrive at 6 p.m. […] You have to look at the road before starting your journey to arrive at 6 pm on site ”. Instructions sometimes difficult to follow scrupulously, while the roads remain very busy, especially at weekends.
So be careful if you plan to leave or return from vacation soon, since the police will show no mercy towards you, even if you explain that you were surprised by the traffic jams. And controls, you should most likely come across along your route, as these are concentrated in particular at stations and airports but also at toll booths. In total, several million checks have been carried out since the curfew was put in place, first set at 9 p.m. then lowered to 8 p.m. then 6 p.m., before moving again to 7 and then to 9 p.m. A few days.
As a reminder, only essential travel is possible after 9 p.m., on presentation of the derogatory certificate available on the website of the Ministry of the Interior. Travel is not included, unless you present a train or plane ticket certifying that you have arrived at your destination after the cut-off time. Walks on foot or in the car are they prohibited, even if you are alone, under penalty of suffering a € 135 fine, which can be increased in the event of a repeat offense, up to a prison sentence in the most extreme cases.
