Sometimes we do more or less excessive speeding. And from time to time, doubt arises. Have we really been flashed or not? Because very often, we know that we have exceeded the maximum speed, but then we have not seen any flash telling us that we have been fined. In this case, how to be sure? Unfortunately, the only way is to wait to receive the ticket. But exactly, what is the deadline for sending it? Well, you should know that this varies according to the type of radar that verbalized you.
From five days to a month
Indeed, if you have been flashed by a fixed cabin, it takes an average of five days to be notified of the violation, directly to your home, while the processing is generally fast, not exceeding 48 hours. On the other hand, if it is a mobile speed camera that has verbalized you, the delay increases between two weeks and a month. Finally, if it is a autonomous radar, also called “site radar”, you will have to wait on average one month. Since the data is stored directly in the cabin, you have to wait for a technician to come and retrieve it.
Don’t shout too quickly if you haven’t received anything after several months. Indeed, the law indicates that the Rennes processing center has up to one year to send you the contravention. After this period, there is nevertheless prescription and you can no longer be prosecuted.
