Last July, Radim Passer, a wealthy Czech businessman set off on the German highway at the wheel of his Bugatti Chiron. The goal, push the racing car to its limits.
We told you about this very spectacular video published last November. In this one, I’m doing Passer, a true car enthusiast, reached 417 km/h on the autobahn.
And if everyone had reveled in this video by being very admiring of the performance, things have changed somewhat recently. Indeed, German transport minister rebelled against such images.
In a statement to the media, he explained that: “Just because some sections of the highway don’t have a posted speed limit doesn’t mean you can go as fast as you want.”
Alright, well maybe it’s time to straighten things out then…
A substantive debate
For his part, the pilot and owner of the Bugatti Chiron defended himself. He assures us that he has taken all the necessary steps to ensure that this high-speed test runs smoothly.
The latter was done in July, very early in the morning, on a straight line for nearly 10 km with 3 lanes all along.
But this whole story may be more political than expected. Because yes, speed limits on the autobahn are now at the heart of the debate in Germany. Mainly for environmental reasonsThis is a topic of great importance right now…
Suffice to say that the Minister of Transport could not afford to let such a video pass without reacting.
