Sebastien Loeb chain it 3rd consecutive victory in special. The Alsatian takes advantage of the poor form by Sébastien Ogier on the icy roads from 5th special of the Monte-Carlo Rally, to take the lead in the overall standings. His current rival also lost his second place to his teammate at Toyota, Elfyn Evans.
On the side of Hyundai, the return to form is crescendo. The lack of test driving is felt by the Korean manufacturer. The more their cars swallow the kilometers, the better they seem to behave on the stages. The battle between builders is therefore not played in advance, beware of reversals of situation. Place at general classification after the 5th special :
- Loeb / Galmiche (Ford) : 54:40.9
- Evans / Martin (Toyota) : + 10.6 s
- Ogier / Veillas (Toyota): + 13.0 s
- Neuville / Wydaeghe (Hyundai) : + 40.2 s
- Breen / Nagle (Ford) : + 46.0 s
- Tänak / Järveoja (Hyundai): + 48.3 s
- Greensmith / Andersson (Ford) : + 56.5 s
- Katsuta / Jonhston (Toyota): + 1: 23.5 s
- Rovanperä / Halttunen (Toyota): + 1: 58.8 p
- Solberg / Edmondson (Hyundai) : + 2:03.1 s
- Fourmaux / Coria (Ford) : OUT
