On January 12, the Team Peugeot TotalEnergies confirmed its presence in the 2022 Endurance Championship, with two cars (No. 93 and 94) in the category Hypercar. The requirements of the lion brand therefore go up a notch with this decision. Commitment and some, while the Peugeot 9X8 will not be ready and thus absent, to roll March 12-13 at Sebring.
“Team PEUGEOT TotalEnergies will not be at the start of the 2022 season, which starts at Sebring in March and includes six events. The arrival in the race will be linked to the maturity of the 9X8, its reliability and its competitiveness, and this, in agreement with the organizer, who is regularly informed of the progress of the development programme. We could have opted for a piecemeal commitment, without registration for the year, which is possible, but it has less consistency. We thus immerse the team in total immersion in the discipline allowing a more intense collaboration with the organizers, even if the 9X8s will not compete in all the races, given the development program and the homologation of the car, explains Jean-Marc Finot -Director of Stellantis Motorsport.«
We will have to wait a few more months to see a Peugeot 9X8 on the starting grid of an event 2022 WEC Endurance Championship. Knowing that the guarantee of seeing the French Hypercar take the start of the 24 H du Mans is not certain. As a reminder, it is Compulsory to participate in at least two first tests of the championship to run in the famous race.
