Discover in pictures how Sébastien Loeb and Sébastien Ogier fought a legendary duel this weekend on the roads of the Monte-Carlo rally.
Liberty egality, Loeb-Ogier. This weekend, the two legends of the tricolor (and world) rally fought until the last special for victory in the 90th edition of the Monte-Carlo Rally.
VIDEO – The video summary of the rally (commentary in English)
After a duel started on Thursday evening, in the light of the headlight ramps in the bends of the Col de Turini, everything was decided on Sunday morning. While he had a twenty-second lead in scratch over their opponents, Sébastien Ogier and his new co-driver Benjamin Veillas (Toyota) suffered a puncture in the penultimate special stage, offering the tandem Sébastien Loeb – Isabelle Galmiche (Ford).
In the power stage closing, Ogier made a false start, receiving a 10-second penalty. A disbursement that the Gapençais finally managed to fill almost completely. On the finish line, he had returned to 10.5 seconds from Loeb. Without the punishment, the rally would have been played at less than a second…
Sébastien Loeb thus won his first rally since Catalonia, in the fall of 2018. It is his 80th world success, the first out of Citroën and with his new co-driver, Isabelle Galmiche. This becomes the first woman to enter the winners of the classic winter since 1997 (victory of Piero Liatti / Fabrizia Pons aboard a Subaru).
