The DS 4 has just been voted Most Beautiful Car of the Year at the International Automobile Festival, this time by the vote of a jury of professionals.
The International Automobile Festival, which is usually held at the Invalides at the start of the year, has been canceled in its traditional form and replaced by an online edition. This did not prevent the holding of votes to determine the most beautiful vehicles of the year in several categories.
The DS 4 elected by a professional jury
Each edition indeed rewards several categories of vehicles, either by the vote of Internet users, or by a jury. Most beautiful car of the year, most beautiful concept car, most beautiful supercar and hypercar, most beautiful advertising… The winners of the 37th edition, once again marked by the Covid-19, have just been unveiled. And it is the compact DS 4 which wins the title of Most Beautiful Car of the Year.
The French compact therefore exceeds the Peugeot 308, Citroën C5 X and BMW i4 which were also in the running. The choice was different this year, since it was a jury of professionals who decided, unlike other editions where the public decided. Chaired by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, it notably included Anne Asencio (Dassault Systems), Paul Belmondo (ex-racing driver), Etienne Gernelle (CEO of Le Point) and Ari Vatanen (ex-rally driver).
The public still voted
If the public didn’t vote for the most beautiful car of the year this time around, they still had their say. Internet users were asked to choose the most beautiful concept car of the year, with several candidates: Audi Skysphere, BMW i Vision Circular, Porsche Mission R, Volvo Recharge or Kia EV9… And it’s finally another French, the Renault 5 Prototype, which won the title with more than 70% of the votes. A nice nod to the R5, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and should return to the forefront with an electric series model inspired by the study in 2024.
Other titles awarded include the prize for the most beautiful hypercar awarded to the Peugeot 9X8, and that of the Most Beautiful Supercar to the Ferrari Daytona SP3. The award-winning advertising film is that of Alpine, called “Go straight take a turn”. The BMW i Vision Circular concept was awarded the Creativ’ Experience prize, and it was the book “Ultimate collection cars” by Charlotte and Peter Fiell that won the grand prize for the most beautiful book.
