Cousin of the Volkswagen ID3, the Spanish compact displays a tonic personality, in line with the philosophy of Cupra, of which it is the first 100% electric car.
Its surname is in touch with its status as an electric model. The Born, the latest addition to the Cupra family, represents the first zero-emission creation of the young brand launched in 2018. The age of reason is therefore three years old for the sports firm of Martorell, which inherits this important vehicle originally intended for the parent company Seat, whose stand at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show hosted the el-Born concept.

Dimensions and style
Well advised to have joined the ranks of Cupra, the Born thus recovers a trendy look, highlighted by its many touches of copper color “Copper”, signature of the brand, which can be used up to its 20 inch rims. Above all, his very embossed front face gives it a more expressive face than its placid cousin, the Volkswagen ID3, which it protrudes by 6 cm in length, with 4,32 m.
Interior
However, it is on the inside that the Spanish compact stands out the most from its Germanic alter ego. She also presents copper-colored elements, a relief structure, various materials, from neoprene to Dinamica, and concretizes its sporting fiber by carrying bucket seats. Moreover, within a driver-oriented cockpit, we find the 12-inch infotainment screen and the typical Cupra steering wheel, equipped with satellite buttons.
Power and autonomy
At the top of the range, the Born capitalizes on a version with 231 hp, via the overboost function, allowing it a 0 to 100 km / h in 6.6 seconds. Two other power levels are available, 150 and 204 hp, while the battery capacities are fixed at 45, 58 and 77 kWh, as for the ID3. Result, theautonomy oscillates between 340 km for the basic version and 540 km for the most powerful with the big battery.
Price
In view of its qualitative interior, the first 100% electric Cupra should endorse a slightly higher price list than that of the ID3, starting at 33,890 euros. The Born may have been born in Spain, it will be produced in Germany, from September, for a marketing expected at the end of the year, a priori beginning of November.
