Rumors have been going around for several months claiming that Nintendo is working on a new version of his console Switch which would be called the Switch Pro. According to Bloomberg, which quotes sources familiar with the matter, the official announcement could fall in the coming days. It would be scheduled before the E3 conference which begins on June 12, and this in order to allow developers to announce their games for the console during the event.
According to this information, which was corroborated by the site Eurogamer, production could start as early as July, despite the global shortage of semiconductors. Suppliers believe, however, they can meet demand, Nintendo having chosen components subject to less demand than those equipping the new Sony consoles and Microsoft.
The new Switch should be sold for more than 300 euros
The higher cost of components, however, should push the price up compared to the current Switch, which sells for 299 euros. To face the competition, especially the PlayStation 5 and la Xbox Series X, the console will have a new graphics chip Nvidia capable of 4K display on a TV, as well as a 7-inch OLED screen produced by Samsung.
According to Bloomberg, this new console would replace the current one, and would therefore be offered alongside the Switch Lite, currently sold at 199 euros. Nintendo could announce the official launch of the Switch Pro for the month of September or October.
