This year marks the 30e character birthday Sonic, the famous blue hedgehog. For the occasion, Sega broadcast a live presentation on YouTube to announce several new games, as well as animated series.
Let’s start at the end. To close the presentation, Sega ended the video with a 32 second teaser for a new game. It shows Sonic running through a forest, surrounded by a energy pixelated violet. Sega reveals nothing else, but rumor and several leaks suggest the name Sonic Rangers, although it could be just a code name. The game is announced for 2022 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, et Xbox Series X/S.

Old titles updated
Sega has also reworked the existing titles with, first of all, a version remastérisée from Sonic Colors with new content and the ability to play in 4K at 60 frames per second. The title was originally released on Nintendo Wii and DS in 2010. Baptized Sonic Colors: Ultimate, the game is already available for pre-order on PC on the Epic Games store at 39.99 euros for a release on September 7. The game will also be offered on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4.
Fans of the first hour will be able to trace their hero’s beginnings with Sonic Origins, a compilation of the first five Sonic games. It therefore includes Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Sonic and Knuckles, and Sonic CD. The firm has confirmed on Twitter that Sonic 3 will be updated for the 16: 9 aspect ratio, as are already the first two titles. Sega, however, has not announced a release date or which platforms will be supported. Finally, Sega announced Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps, an animated series in two episodes, the first of which will be available in July. The firm also provided details on Sonic Prime which will therefore be a 3D animated series in 24 episodes available on Netflix in 2022.
