Presented at the last Geneva Motor Show, the Bugatti La Car Noire is now showing itself in its final form, after more than two years of work.
If the car you see in the photo above the article sounds like anything to you, don’t worry, it’s completely normal. And for good reason, it is the Bugatti La Car Noire, a very special version of the Chiron, which had already been unveiled to the general public a little over two years ago, at the Geneva Motor Show. Great surprise of this edition, while no indication foreshadowed such a revelation, the supercar was then presented with great fanfare on the stand of the mark. Paying homage to the mythical Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, this unique model then surprised the public and the press, disappointed by what in fact seems to be nothing more than a rearrangement of Molsheim’s supercar. But what does it matter, because the one that was then the most expensive new car in the world had still been talked about a lot, and for a very simple reason: the mystery surrounding the identity of his owner. While the rumors of the corridors spoke first of Ferdinand Piech and then of Cristiano Ronaldo, the question will ultimately remain unanswered.
Two years later, The Black Car is again talking about it, while Bugatti has officially unveiled its final version, through a series of photos announcing its imminent delivery. A small event in the world of exceptional automobiles, then, while several curious had already seen the supercar strolling around the factory in Molsheim, Alsace. A series of tease had also caught the attention of fans of the brand, who are finally discovering what the final car looks like. In reality, this one does not change the concept in terms of style, but we often think that the latter was in fact a simple empty shell, devoid of interior and engine. Here then is the error corrected, while the mysterious buyer should soon take possession of his sports car, which pays tribute to the personal Atlantic of Jean Bugatti, unfortunately lost during WWII.
A unique model
Completely redesigned compared to the standard Chiron, the body of this Bugatti La Car Noire is covered with a carbon coating protected by a transparent varnish producing very little reflections. Result, the black is then deeper, and the lines more refined. At the rear, no less than six tailpipes take place in the diffuser, again reminiscent of the original model. If the interior has not yet been shown in photos for the moment, the brand does however give some interesting details about it. This one is indeed dressed in a saddlery in full grain leather Havana-brown color, then inspired by the original model. The gear lever is dressed in rosewood, while polished aluminum is also ubiquitous, whether on the center console, center support and doors.
Under its hood, however, this Bugatti La Car Noire does not evolve one iota, since it retains the W16 8.0-liter quad-turbo from the Chiron, which develops as a reminder no less than 1,500 horsepower for a couple equally impressive 1,600 Nm. As a reminder, the 0 to 100 km / h is then dispatched in 2.4 seconds, while the maximum speed is electrically limited to 420 km / h. Know that the mysterious buyer of this unique model had to pay no less than 11 million euros for this car …
